Irani Trophy to be played from Sept 18 to 22 at Chennai

The five-day Irani Trophy cricket match between Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai and the Rest of India would be played from September 18 to 22 at Chennai.

Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) joint secretary, Prof Ratnakar Shetty said at Mumbai on Wednesday that the domestic calender was more or less made in the presence of Board of Control for Cricket in India secretary S K Nair on Tuesday.

"The upper tier Ranji Trophy (Elite) league matches would start from November 7 while the lower tier (Plate) league matches are scheduled to start from November 23 all over the country", he added.

"However, the domestic season for the current year will kick-off with Challenger one-day series to be held under lights between India, India 'A' and India 'B' at Bangalore from September 10 to 14," Shetty said.

Meanwhile, Sudhir Vaidya of Mumbai and Dinar Gupte of Vadodara have been appointed as the BCCI's official
staticians.
