Tendulkar to skip Mumbai probables camp

Batting maestro Sachin Tendulkar's name does not figure in the Mumbai Ranji Trophy probables list for the pre-season 45-day training camp to be held at the Wankhede stadium, from July 28. It is learnt that the ace best batsman will train on his own.

Sachin TendulkarHowever, Tendulkar's schoolmate and former India Test batsman Vinod Kambli, who played league cricket in South Africa last season, has declared himself available for Mumbai this season and been included in the 25-member probables' list.

"Tendulkar's name is not mentioned as the Mumbai star has decided to train on his own before the all-important Irani Trophy five-day match between Ranji Trophy champions Mumbai and Rest of India, to be held in Chennai from September 18-22," Mumbai Cricket Association joint secretary Prof Ratnakar Shetty said on Monday.

"The names of opening batsman Wasim Jaffer and paceman Avishkar Salvi, who are doing duty with the India 'A' squad in England, are also missing while another paceman, Ajit Agarkar, and opening batsman Vinayak Mane will join camp as soon as they come back from England where they are playing for minor counties," he added.

The Probables' list: Ajit Agarkar, Vinod Kambli, Bhavin Thakkar, Harshad Rawle, Pushkaraj Jadhav, Sushant Manjrekar, Onkar Khanvilkar, Vinit Indulkar, Abhishek Nair, Wilkin Mota, Rajesh Verma, Swapnil Hazare, Usman Mal, Vinayak Samant, Manish Bangera, Abhijit Shetye, Nishit Shetty, Rajesh Pawar, Viraj Pai, Vinay Dandekar, Rupam Malviya, Abhijit Tapase, Amit Velaskar and Nilesh Patwardhan.
