Dravid, Yuvraj end up on losing side

June 02, 2003 17:15 IST

India batsmen Rahul Dravid and Yuvraj Singh ended up on the losing side in the Second Division County cricket championship on Sunday.

Dravid, making his debut for Scotland at Edinburgh, made 25 as his side struggled to score 201 for eight in 45 overs.

Hampshire overwhelmed them, scoring 202 for 4 wickets in 43 overs.

Dravid has not been in the middle since his innings for India in the World Cup final, but showed little sign of rustiness after marching to the wicket in the very first over.

Wasim Akram trapped Ryan Watson lbw with the fourth ball of the day but Dravid soon smashed Ed Giddins's full toss back over the bowler's head for his initial boundary.

However, he was caught behind, off Alan Mullally, for 25 (4x4) off 45 balls and Scotland's 201 for eight was never
really enough. Wasim Akram captured 3 for 32.

At Headingley, Yuvraj Singh showed glimpses of his potential, scoring 56 for Yorkshire in the first innings
but was dismissed cheaply in the second knock for just one.

Durham, which scored 280 in the first innings, restricted Yorkshire to 220.

In the second essay, Durham made 200, setting Yorkshire a winning target of 261.  However, Yorkshire were shot out for 93.
