Board of Control for Cricket in India president Jagmohan Dalmiya said the board would go strictly by legal opinion on former Test cricketer Ajay Jadeja's return to on-field action.

Reacting to Jadeja's inclusion in the Delhi Ranji Trophy team, Dalmiya said "It has been the consistent stand of the Board that the court should have the last word on this.

"If the court has no objection to Jadeja playing the Ranji Trophy, we won't come in the way. But we will go strictly by legal opinion," Dalmiya said.

Jadeja, fighting a court case against the Cricket Board on his ban from the game on account of his alleged nexus with bookmakers, was earlier in the day included in the 16-member Delhi team for the opening two matches of the 2003-04 Ranji Trophy.
