Yuvraj Singh is planning to use tips picked up from New Zealand captain Stephen Fleming against the Kiwis on their tour of India next month.

Singh and Fleming were teammates for Yorkshire in the English county championship this season.

"I became good friends with Fleming in Yorkshire," Singh, who returned from England last week, told reporters on the first day of a week-long Indian training camp on Monday.

"I learnt a lot from him, he helped me a lot. He's a very experienced player and an excellent captain. I've picked up lots of important tips for the future."

The 21 year-old lefthander hit a miserable patch of form for Yorkshire, scoring just 145 runs from seven first-class matches, but said the experience was still valuable.

"I didn't do well in the last three months, but learnt a lot of things that make you a good cricketer.

"It was a good experience playing county cricket. The first month was pretty good, I played a couple of good knocks, but later on I was struggling."

Singh also had a poor run in one-day cricket in England, managing only 196 runs at an average of 21.77.

But the explosive middle-order batsman is confident of getting back to scoring runs. "I've done well in domestic cricket," he said. "I just have to try and be consistent in India's one-day games and then try to get into the Test team."

Yuvraj Singh has scored 1,644 runs in 73 one-day internationals at 31.01, but is yet to win a Test cap.

India and New Zealand play two Tests followed by a one-day triangular series also involving world champions Australia.
