Inzamam-ul-Haq broke Bangladeshi hearts with a memorable 138 not out to steer Pakistan to a one-wicket win in the third Test in Multan on Saturday and a 3-0 sweep of the series.

Bangladesh were left waiting for their first Test win after Inzamam choose his hometown for a dramatic return to form and his 18th Test hundred.

Bangladesh were chasing a victory in their 24th attempt having been granted Test status in 2000. They have lost all but one of those matches.

Inzamam began the morning with 53 runs with Pakistan on 148-6 and lost partner Saqlain Mushtaq with the total on 164.

But he took complete control to put on another 98 runs with the help of tailenders Shabbir Ahmed (13), Umar Gul (5) and Yasir Ali (1).

Bangladesh got the ninth wicket in the fourth over after lunch when Umar Gul was run out going for a second after putting on 51 runs with Inzamam.

Inzamam had played the ball to deep point and completed a single but refused a second. But by that time Gul had come down the wicket and could not beat Mohammad Ashraful's throw.

Last man Yasir Ali played out four balls from Khaled Mahmud in tense conditions to give Inzamam the strike on the final ball of the over, which he swung to the mid-wicket boundary for the winning four.

Inzamam finished unbeaten on 138 from 232 balls having hit 20 fours and a six.
