September 18, 2003 21:58 IST

Fast bowler Zaheer Khan, who dazzled on the opening day of the Irani Trophy match between Rest of India and Mumbai with a five-wicket haul, which included the prized scalp of Sachin Tendulkar, was pleased with his performance.

Speaking after the day's play, he said Tendulkar's wicket was special and the haul increased his confidence ahead of the upcoming international season.

"It is always important to start a new season with such a performance. It increases one's confidence levels. I am more happy that I was able to claim Tendulkar's wicket," he told reporters.

He said Tendulkar and Sairaj Bahatule had already added over 140 runs and looked set for a solid partnership. "I am happy that I broke the pair."

Asked about the strip, on which he was able to grab five wickets, he said: "The pitch was in good condition. The ball was moving off the pitch."

Asked about his back problem, he said, "My back is holding up. I will be completely all right soon."
