Ganguly to miss first Test

Faisal Shariff in Multan | March 27, 2004 12:58 IST

Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly will miss the first Test against Pakistan at Multan starting tomorrow.

Ganguly injured his lower back when he dived to stop a scorching off-drive by his counterpart Inzamam-ul-Haq in the fifth and final Limited Overs International at Lahore on Wednesday. He lay on the ground writhing in pain before being carried off.

"Yuvraj Singh is expected to take Ganguly's place in the squad," media manager Amrit Mathur said today.

Vice-captain Rahul Dravid will lead the side in the Test.
