Digvijay Singh reveals secret of success

November 01, 2003 21:54 IST

Though pollsters often predict a waterloo for him, Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Digvijay Singh attributes his success in elections to the 'don't know, can't say' voters who keep their choice a closely-guarded secret till the end.

In an informal chat with reporters in Bhopal, Singh said he never gets worked up over poll surveys, which invariably show him losing. "They did the same thing in 1998 and are doing it now," he said.

But, he said, his confidence was due to the 'don't know, can't say' category of voters in such surveys which consists of weaker sections who never tell who they will vote for the fear of reprisals.

The chief minister dubbed as 'too hypothetical' a question as to which party he would approach to form government if the elections throw up a hung assembly.

He said his slogan in the polls would be 'jo kaha, so kiya' (whatever has been promised, has been fulfilled). Singh claimed Congress would secure 125-135 seats while BJP would finish with 75-85 seats in the 230-member assembly.
