Sonia shares roti with villager

February 20, 2004 15:53 IST

Congress president Sonia Gandhi on Friday shared a roti with a woman and interacted with villagers during her 'road show' in eastern Uttar Pradesh.

"Have you cooked something today," she asked Lalita Devi in Vedpur village, dominated by dalits.

Lalita went inside her house and returned with a roti and onion. Gandhi then shared it with her.

When she came know that one of Lalita's children was physically challenged, Gandhi asked UP Congress Committee president Jagdambika Pal to arrange for treatment of the child.
