March 30, 2004 12:38 IST

The Congress party on Tuesday withdrew the suspension order against former Chattisgarh chief minister Ajit Jogi and decided to field him against former Union Minister V C Shukla in Mahsamund constituency in the state.

"In view of the apology tendered by Jogi to the Disciplinary Action Committee for his lapses, it decided to withdraw the suspension order against him," party spokesman Kapil Sibal told reporters in Delhi.

He said that Jogi would take on Shukla in Mahsamund constituency in the coming Lok Sabha election.
