No truck with BJP & RJD: Paswan to Sonia

Lok Janshakti Party chief Ramvilas Paswan on Tuesday met Congress president Sonia Gandhi and told her that a government could be formed in Bihar with the help of the Janata Dal-United and anti-Rashtriya Janata Dal and anti-Bharatiya Janata Party outfits.

President's rule could be imposed in case this idea did not materialise, he said.

"I said a government can be formed with Congress chief minister, preferably from minority community, in which LJP, JD-U and other anti-RJD and anti-BJP parties can participate," Paswan said after the meeting.

Asked if a Muslim CM from the RJD was acceptable, he said, "There is no question of either taking support from the Lalu Prasad-led party or lending support to it."

Paswan said that he sought to impress upon the Congress president that her party should not extend support to the RJD as the mandate was against it.

The LJP leader reminded her of Lalu's attacks against her and her party during campaigning and said the RJD leader was "shamelessly begging" for Congress support in the "garb of secularism".

Paswan said the JD-U should come out of the BJP-led NDA. "Now it is up to JD-U to take a decision."

He held talks with Congress leaders Ahmed Patel and Arjun Singh before meeting Gandhi.
