BSE Sensitive Index

Sensex up 11.01 points

Select scrips firmed up on good buying support by bull operators improving the Sensex by 11 points at the Bombay Stock Exchange today.

While the major market operators, foreign institutional investors and domestic institutions had a nominal presence in the market, local operators were buying select scrips, especially in software shares.

Mirroring the upward trend, the BSE Sensex opened at 3882.02 points, rose to a high of 3934 points and fell to a low of 3874.04 points, and finally closed at 3908.11 points, registering a gain of 11.01 points.

The BSE-100 index opened slightly lower at 1721.41 points, saw a high of 1744.65 points, dipped to the day's low of 1719.88 points before closing at 1735.09 points, gaining 9.84 points.

The BSE-200 index increased by 2.41 points to 393.61 points as against the previous close of 391.20 points while the Dollex index eased by 0.35 points to 160.15 points as compared to the previous close of 160.50 points. The total turnover, involving 128,540 trades, was Rs 11.1 billion.

ITC recorded the highest turnover of Rs 2.5 billion, followed by Satyam Comp (all in rupees) 1.6 billion, BPL Ltd 742.3 million, Reliance 604 million, ACC 530.1 million, Pentafour S 459.6 million, Videocon Int 315.3 million, SBI 297.2 million, Sterlite 259.8 million, Bajaj Auto 213.7 million, Tata Tea 201.6 million, Dig Equip 172.4 million, Infosys Tech 169.5 million, Tisco 139.1 million and NIIT 138.9 million.

In B1 group, the actively traded counters were (all in rupees) BFL Software registered 83.3 million, Ipca Labs 30.6 million, Cyber System 30.4 million, Sofware Sol 28.2 million, Wipro 21.1 million, CME Ltd 15.3 million, Hoech Mar Ro 15 million, Aptech Ltd 13.5 million, DSQ Software 12.3 million, Federal Bank 11.6 million, Him Fut Comm 11.3 million, HCL Infosys Tech 10.1 million, Tata Infotech 9.7 million, Shriram Hond 9 million and Leading Edge 9 million.
