Equities move in a narrow range; Nifty sheds 4.5 points to 1183.20

Equities moved in a narrow range in a dull trading at the National Stock Exchange today.

Reflecting the trend, the S&P CNX Nifty index opened at 1187.85 points, touched the day's high of 1197 points, a low of 1179.30 points, before closing at 1183.20 points, showing a net loss of 4.50 points from the previous close of 1187.70.

The CNX Nifty Junior declined sharply by 23.75 points to 1931.85 points as against the previous close of 1955.60 points.

Total turnover on the NSE reported during the day was Rs 14.17 billion which came from a trading of 66.84 million shares. Debentues traded were valued at Rs 2.43 million.

Today, 468 securities advanced, 534 declined, 75 remained unchanged while 58 securities hit their price bands today.
