National Association of Software and Service Companies has ranked Wipro Spectramind number one among the 15-third party IT-enabled services (call centre and BPO) firms in India, based on revenues for the fiscal year 2002-03.
According to the survey, conducted by the apex industry body of software and service companies in India, Wipro Spectramind has emerged as the frontrunner, followed by WNS Group and Daksh eServices at the second and third position respectively.
The ITES-BPO segment contributes 25 per cent to the total IT software and service exports from India, and witnessed a growth of 59 per cent to reach Rs 11,300 crore (Rs 113 billion) in fiscal 2002-03.
Nasscom president Kiran Karnik said in Bangalore on Wednesday that the rankings were aimed at recognising the phenomenal growth witnessed by the third party players within the ITES-BPO sector.
"It is encouraging to see many new entrants in this year's top-10 list, emphasising that there is intense competition as well as growth in this sector, despite challenging times," Karnik said in a statement.
These rankings, in accordance with the US GAAP format, reinforce Nasscom's initiative to encourage the Indian Industry in adopting the global best practices that are transparent and reliable.
The remaining eight were ranked in the following order: Exl Services, HCL Technologies BPO Services, Convergys India Services, GTL, MsourcE India, Hinduja TMT, ICICI One Source, and Sutherland Technologies.
Nasscom adopted a unique methodology for ranking the top 15 firms by collecting figures from its member companies on a quarterly basis in the ITES-BPO segment on behalf of the Reserve Bank of India.
Nasscom had also sent a snap survey questionnaire to its member companies, accounting for 95 per cent of the Indian IT software and services' industry revenue. The ranking is based on information furnished on key parameters such as aggregate performance, service lines, verticals and geographies.
