'Twas not meant to be

It had to happen! Akshay Kumar was not really serious about the relationship and Twinkle, though madly in love with the man Bollywood has labelled Casanova, had not taken him too seriously. Which is why this break-up is without tears or any of those "how he broke my heart" stories.

Instead, prepare yourself for a determined "I-am-not-getting-married" Twinkle, who has suddenly realised that she is out of work. One of reasons is the fact that her affair was taken rather seriously by the industry, who assumed she was indeed getting married. Does it mean that, this once, it was Akshay who got the boot?

Sonu moves to greener climes

She is best remembered as a glamorous doll and for her role in Khoon Bhari Maang. And, no matter what Sonu Walia did, she could never rid herself of the tag, as all her attempts to play lead roles came to naught. A restless and frustrated Sonu's search for peace ended when she met her spiritual guru, who introduced her to Art of Living.

It was then that she met Prakash Sharma, a hotelier from the US of A, whom she wed in a quiet ceremony at Pune. And, unlike other heroines, Sonu has decided she would rather set up home. So, while her husband concentrates on feeding his customers, Sonu will focus her attention on cooking exotic dishes for him at home.

Shah Rukh on TV?

If sources close to leading distributor Bharat Shah are to be believed, then Shah Rukh Khan is considering hosting a show for the channel B4U. The channel, which is being backed by NRI Kishore Lulla and Bharatbhai, is said to have offered Shah Rukh a phenomenal amount to host a show, the details of which are not known at present.

The inspiration, of course, is the stupendous success of Amitabh Bachchan's foray onto the small screen, Kaun Banega Crorepati. And if Shah Rukh does agree, it will be for two reasons only -- one: he could always do with some more green bucks and two: his need to prove that, what the big B does, SRK can do better!

Rekha to follow in Amitabh's tracks?

While on Amitabh, can his ex-beau be far behind? Madam Rekha is currently being besieged with proposals. Not of the marriage variety, but of the more prosaic, monetary kind.

Rival channels are said to be luring Rekha with the idea of hosting a show. Be it a woman's show, a film-based programme or even a talk show, do something for us, is what their CEOs are saying. One does not claim to know Rekha's mind, but surely a show titled Kaun Banega Arabpati? would interest her. What say, Rekha?

Shilpa's one happy bride

It would be difficult to spot a happier bride than Shilpa Shirodkar. She looked radiant, thrilled and content all at the same time. What added to the glow on her cherubic face was the presence of close friend Madhuri Dixit, who flew down specially for the occasion.

At Madhuri's reception, Shilpa stood at the entrance along with secretary Rikku (whom she shares with Madhuri), welcoming the guests. Though Madhuri didn't reciprocate on that count, she was present with the Shirodkars and mingled around till the wee hours of the morning and till the last guests had left.

Romance takes its toll on Neha

This industry can be rather unfeeling at times. It even demands a price for romantic liaisons. Newcomer Neha was to star in a stellar role in Ramgopal Varma's Jackpot, which is to be directed by his ex-chief assistant, E Niwas.

But, between the announcement and the actual launch of the film, Manoj Bajpai had a tiff with Ramu. Result: Manoj was dropped from the film. As was Neha for the only reason that she is Manoj's girlfriend!
