Garv: Nothing to be proud of!

Sukanya Verma | May 11, 2004 10:56 IST

Shilpa Shetty and Salman Khan in GarvIt's tough to like the music of Garv. I can cite three reasons for that:

# It isn't melodious.
# It has no repeat value.
# It isn't unusual.

Composer duo Sajid-Wajid -- known to score the music for Salman Khan-starrers -- usually come up with hummable songs for all their albums. That, however, is not the case with Khan's new cop drama co-starring Shilpa Shetty and Arbaaz Khan.

The soundtrack begins on an indifferent note with Udit Narayan and Shreya Ghosal dispassionately crooning Hum tumko nigahon mein. The track is mundane, the tune regular and the lyrics stereotypical.

Two more songs follow -- Dum mast mast and Soniye. With Sukhwinder Singh singing both these fast-paced numbers, they sound incredibly similar. But even the effusive Singh cannot lift these songs from the ordinary.

Remember Anu Malik's gothic Yeh raat in Rakesh Mehra's supernatural thriller, Aks? Malik makes a guest appearance here to produce Marhaba, which is no more than a obvious rehash of Yeh raat.

A still from GarvTaporis are 'in'. So Vinod Rathod animatedly renders the popular phrase Khaaya piya to kuch bhi nahi, saala gilaas toda baarah aana.

Sunidhi Chauhan is fast becoming the Shah Rukh Khan of the music industry. All her songs sound alike. And Saiyan of Garv is no different from her Saiyan for Shankar's Nayak.

Sonu Nigam's Fariyad barely registers, while Tera hi deewana dil is strictly ordinary.

To cut a long story short: avoid Garv!
