'We have extended our hand of friendship. Let us see how Pakistan responds'
April 23, 2003 12:24 IST
Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee on Wednesday told the Lok Sabha that stopping cross-border infiltration and destruction of terrorist infrastructure 'can open the doors for talks' with Pakistan on all issues, including Jammu and Kashmir. Making a statement in the house on his new peace initiative during his visit to Srinagar last weekend, Vajpayee said, "I expressed the hope that a new beginning can take place between India and Pakistan. We have extended our hand of friendship. Let us see how Pakistan responds."
