Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee has sought details of Monday's bomb blasts in south Mumbai, a senior official in the PMO's said.

There was no word from Deputy Prime Minister Lal Kishenchad Advani's North Block office, who is also awaiting details of the blasts.

"At present, there is a lot of confusion in Mumbai and even police officials are playing it safe and saying facts would emerge after some cursory investigation," the official said.

Investors in Delhi were concerned about the drastic fall in the Sensex following the blasts.

Addressing reporters after a meeting of BJP leaders at the prime minister's residence, party spokesman V K Malhotra condemned the blasts and said, "There have been several blasts (in Mumbai) of late. It's time the state government did something about it."
