Outgoing Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Thursday alleged that her coalition partner Bharatiya Janata Party wanted her to ensure that the cases against its leaders in the Babri Masjid demolition incident were buried.

Addressing a press conference in Lucknow, she also alleged that a temple to be built in Ayodhya so that it could use the issue during the next Lok Sabha polls.

She also alleged that the BJP did not discipline some belligerent MLAs who were trying to bring down her government. The idea was to let the Samajwadi Party take over so that they could raise the Ayodhya issue, she said.

She said the BJP was aware that, owing to its wrong policies, there was no other way it could come back to power in the state, or elsewhere.
