Seer acting like politician: Chandrashekhar

July 09, 2003 22:30 IST

Former prime minister Chandrashekhar on Wednesday said Kanchi Shankaracharya Jayendra Saraswati was behaving like a politician and that is why his efforts to solve the Ayodhya disputed failed.

"The Kanchi seer should not have got involved in politics as the Ayodhya dispute cannot be resolved through such political moves like the one initiated by him recently," he told Samajwadi Janata Party workers at a convention in Lucknow.
