Muslims won't accept Common Civil Code: Bukhari

Former imam (head cleric) of Delhi's Jama Masjid Abdullah Bukhari has said the idea of a Common Civil Code for the country was 'unacceptable to Muslims'.

Bukhari, who is not keeping good health, was in Ajmer to visit the memorial to Sufi saint Khwaja Moinuddin Chisti.

"Hindus and Muslims would have to live together like sugar in milk and all those who try to create a wedge between the two communities should be snubbed," he told reporters on Thursday.

Bukhari accused Bharatiya Janata Party leaders of trying to create a rift between Hindus and Muslims for their own selfish ends.

He praised the government's initiative for improving relations with Pakistan.
