UP introduces reservations in varsity boards

May 08, 2003 22:05 IST

A day after introducing reservations in the judiciary, the Uttar Pradesh government on Thursday decided to give representation to reserved classes in executive councils and shiksha boards of state universities.

The Cabinet decided to amend the UP State University Act, 1973, to this effect, an official release said.

The Cabinet also decided to amend sections 2, 37 and 49 of the act, which authorise university chancellors to accord affiliation to curriculum run by National Level Independent (Autonomous) Institutions for a limited period on certain terms and conditions.
