Bus mishap in Maharashtra, 22 dead

Twenty-two people were feared killed and several injured when a luxury bus from Gujarat plunged into a valley in Pasarni Ghat near Panchgani in Maharashtra late on Saturday night, police said on Sunday.

The bus, going from Mahabaleshwar to Pune, fell into the valley near Buha Saheb temple on the Panchgani-Wai road, the police said.

The driver of the bus, belonging to Sri G Tourism and Travels, lost control of the vehicle while negotiating a curve near the slope of the ghat section, the police said.

There were 56 passengers in the bus.

The injured were admitted to the Wai Hospital, Mission Hospital, Babar Hospital and Satara Civil Hospital.
