Militants abduct Manipur minister's daughter

November 05, 2003 12:51 IST

Unidentified militants have abducted the daughter of Manipur's General Administration Minister Francis Ngajokpa, a senior police officer said in Imphal.

The girl, a Class III student of Little Flowers High School, was kidnapped on Tuesday when she was returning home from school.

The militants have demanded a huge ransom for her release, a police source said.

Police have not divulged her name and there is also no official word on the militant group responsible for the abduction.

The minister and his family were not available for comment.

Angry students of the school blocked the main Imphal-Airport Road on Wednesday.
