Special court lets off Raja Bhaiya

A special court on Wednesday discharged Raghuraj Pratap Singh alias Raja Bhaiya and Dhananjay Singh -- independent Uttar Pradesh legislators -- from all charges under the purview of Gangsters Act.

Special Judge R A Kaushik accepted the state government's proposal to withdraw the act slapped on the two legislators by the erstwhile Mayawati government.

V K Shahi, counsel for Raja Bhaiya told PTI that the court accepted the proposal of the state government to withdraw gangsters act and subsequently discharged the legislators of all charges framed under the purview of the act.
