Undertrial hurls slipper at magistrate, prisoner escapes

October 17, 2003 01:17 IST

Taking advantage of the commotion created in a court room after an undertrial hurled his slipper at a magistrate, a prisoner managed to escape from police custody.

S Wadkar threw his foot-wear at the magistrate allegedly in frustration over his case being deferred several times, police said in Pune on Thursday. It landed in the ante-chamber of the magistrate.

In the ensuing commotion, another prisoner, who was also facing trial, gave the slip to the police.
