Jindal starts picking up black votes

October 25, 2003 10:49 IST

Bobby Jindal, the Indian origin Republican candidate for governorship of Louisiana, who seems assured of majority white support in Louisiana, has started picking up black support too, local media reported on Friday.

He has been endorsed by Black Organisation for Leadership Development, a leading African American group in Louisiana.

Another group which has promised support is black clergy.

Jindal has been arguing that all the issues he has discussed so far and on which he has released detailed white papers, are issues of central concern to the black community, contrary to the criticism that he has not addressed their issues.
