4 soldiers killed in attack on army camp

At least four armymen, including an officer, were killed and seven wounded in a suicide attack by two militants on a camp at Nelidoori in Nowgam sector of Kupwara district early on Saturday morning.

One of the militants was killed in retaliatory fire by army personnel.

The militants stormed the Fifth Sikh Regiment camp in the Nildori-Pungus valley in Nowgam sector around 0350 IST with one of them firing rifle grenades and the other hurling hand grenades, official sources said.

Police said gunshots and blasts were still being heard from inside the camp.

Reinforcements have been rushed to the camp.
