Alert: Hotel management course

Indira Gandhi National Open University and the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology invite applications for admission to their two-year, full-time MSc Hospitality Administration Programme.

This is a two-year (four semester) programme which started last year at the Institutes of Hotel Management in Bangalore and Pusa, New Delhi. The programme blends intensive classroom contact and distance learning. It will focus on and offer:

  • Post-graduate level studies to those keen on enhancing their knowledge base.
  • A chance to pursue higher studies in hospitality administration. This will help you take up managerial functions in the hospitality business or take up research and development assignments in the industry or in institutes.
  • This course also helps in your career advancement.

Important dates

Last date for sale of prospectus: August 23

Last date for receipt of the completed application forms at the National Council: August 25

The programme begins: First week of September.

Seats

Reservation and seats: As per Central Government rules for SC, ST and PH candidates.

Total seats: 75 (25 seats at each Institute)

Entry level qualification

BSc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration

OR

Three-year Diploma in Hotel Management from NCHMCT plus BA / BSc / B Com or an equivalent qualification

OR

Three-year Diploma in Hotel Management from NCHMCT with a minimum of two years' work experience in a supervisory category at any established and approved star hotel or any other hospitality service organisation / faculty with minimum of two years teaching experience at NCHMCT affiliated Institutes / affiliated Institutes of Hotel Management with recognised Universities.

Candidates with the three-year diploma qualification will additionally have to take up and pass a Bridge Course comprising TS-1, TS-3, TS-6 and TS-7 of IGNOU's Programme in Tourism Studies within the two-year duration of the MSc programme.

OR

Any of the above mentioned Institutes of Hotel Management on payment of Rs 750.

They can also be obtained through post by remitting a demand draft worth Rs 850 in favour of the National Council for Hotel Management and Catering Technology, payable at New Delhi.
