Jyotirmoyee Sikdar's husband arrested

Asian Games gold medallist and Communist Party of India (Marxist) MP Jyotirmoyee Sikdar's husband, Avtar Singh, was  arrested on Sunday from a hotel in Salt Lake in Kolkata for allegedly running a sex racket, police said.

Inspector General of Police (law and order) Chayan Mukherjee said the police raided the Merilyn Park Hotel, owned by Singh, in Sector 5 in Salt Lake and arrested four women and four men.

Singh and the hotel manager were also arrested.

All six will be produced at the Barrackpore court later in the day.
