HC denies bail to Shankaracharya

The Madras High Court on Wednesday denied bail to the Shankaracharya of Kanchi Mutt, Jayendra Saraswati, in a murder case.

The HC had on Tuesday reserved its order on a bail petition by the Shankaracharya.

The seer is charged with having a role in the murder of a Kanchipuram temple official A Sankararaman on September 3.

Meanwhile, another court adjourned till Friday hearing of a case of attempted murder in which the Kanchi pontiff is an accused.
