Peter Bleach released

Peter Bleach, serving a life sentence in Kolkata for his involvement in the 1995 Purulia arms drop case, was released from the jail on Wednesday following a Presidential remission of the remainder of his sentence.

Authorities in West Bengal released him from the high-security Alipur Jail at around 3:25pm. Deputy High Commissioner Andrew Hall and other officials from the British mission escorted him in a convoy of cars out of the jail.
