In less than 24 hours Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mulayam Singh Yadav withdrew his controversial order allowing schools to close every Friday noon to allow Muslim students to offer namaz.

Many organisations and individuals questioned the timing of the order, with Lok Sabha election just round the corner.

Do you think Mulayam withdrew the orders under political pressure? Or was it the tepid response?

What did the Uttar Pradesh chief minister hope to achieve by issuing the order in the first place?
