Diana wanted baby to bridge Christian, Muslim divide

Princess Diana was reportedly desperate for a baby with her Pakistani boy friend believing the child would help improve relations between the world's Christian and Muslim communities.
A London newspaper said a close friend of Diana's claimed the princess hoped the child with surgeon Hasnat Khan would be a girl and had even planned a name for her.

"The princess was desperately in love with Hasnat Khan. She was even talking about marrying him and having his baby. It was her dream," the source told Evening Standard."She believed that a beautiful brown baby girl could help unite the world. She even thought of a name for her, Allegra, after her friend Lady Annabel Goldsmith mentioned it. She thought it was beautiful."
Allegra is the name of a relative of Lady Annabel Goldsmith, the mother-in-law of Pakistani cricketer Imran Khan.
Dr John Burton, a former royal coroner and one of the two people at her post-mortem examination, has, however, dismissed speculation that Diana was pregnant at the time of her death.
On January 6, royal coroner Michael Burgess opened separate inquests into the deaths of Diana and her friend, Dodi Fayed. He also ordered Scotland Yard to launch an inquiry into Diana's death, which could result in questioning of both Prince Charles and his two sons.
