Rehman to perform on Republic Day

January 19, 2004 17:25 IST

'One Vision, One World', a song penned by President A P J Abdul Kalam and set to tune by music wizard A R Rehman, will be performed as part of a grand musical concert in aid of children on the Republic Day in Mumbai.

The concert, to be held at the Cricket Club of India, themed 'I believe a better world is possible', has been organised by SAVE The Children India, a Mumbai-based NGO, in association the Tata group.

The concert will kick off with Amitabh Bachchan reciting the lines penned by the President.

"The prose has been changed a bit to fit into a lyrical format for musical rendition," Rehman told reporters on Monday.
"We also have a Hindi version of the song," he said.

The one-and-half-hour concert will also feature other selected musical pieces, including 'Maa Tujhe Salaam', 'Gurus of Peace,' and 'Chhoti Si Asha' as well as a dance rendition by Tanushree.

"The concert will be different from my other concerts as it would focus on children," Rehman said.
