Govindacharya 'extra-constitutional' power in MP: Cong

June 09, 2004 20:01 IST

The Madhya Pradesh Congress on Wednesday alleged that former Bharatiya Janata Party ideologue Govindacharya was enjoying 'extra-constitutional powers' in the state.

"Govindacharya is working as an extra-constitutional power in the state as he has held meetings with senior bureaucrats of the state on at least four occasions," MPCC spokesman Manak Agrawal said at a press conference in Bhopal.

Govindacharya often summons these government servants with official documents at his residence, he further alleged.

"If he is given a constitutional post, we will have no objections to Govindacharya disposing off government chores," he added.
