Karunanidhi thanks PM, Sonia for Cauvery water

Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam chief Muthuvel Karunanidhi on Friday thanked Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress chief Sonia Gandhi for their efforts to make available Cauvery water to Tamil Nadu from Karnataka.

In identical letters to both the leaders, Karunanidhi said, "I thank you for your sincere efforts made in response to my letters to make available Cauvery Water from Karnataka to Tamil Nadu. I have come to know that water is being released from Kabini reservoir."

"At this critical juncture, your efforts have come as a solace to the suffering Cauvery Delta farmers," he said.
