An Austrian lady teacher, heading the department of Indo-Tibetan studies at the Visva Bharati University, Santiniketan, on Sunday lodged a complaint with the authorities about mental and physical harassment by two colleagues.

Visva Bharati spokesman said Andrea Loresis lodged the complaint with Registrar S K Sarkar against her colleagues Prakriti Chakraborty and Nayam Kayal.

University PRO Amitabha Choudhury said Loresis made 'some allegations' against the duo to the registrar and said the authorities were looking into the issue as per department procedures.

When contacted, Superintendent of Police, Birbhum, S S Panda said though no official complaint has been lodged with the police, he had 'heard' about the incident.

He said if the police will take up this issue in accordance with the law if the university approached.

The two teachers of the Indo-Tibetan department have denied the charges of the Austrian lady and one of them said they are planning to complain against Loresis.

Loresis was not available for comments.
