A chief supervisor and two clerks of the railway booking counter at the Old Delhi station have been suspended on charges of laxity in duty following the Samjhauta Express train blasts.

"Two clerks have been suspended late Monday evening on charges of improper maintenance of records of the tickets issued for the Delhi-Attari train," Chief PRO Northern Railway Rajiv Saxena told PTI.

"The two are Surendra Kumar and Rakesh Maini -- both clerks are the general class booking counters," he added.

The general manager of Northern Railways and the divisional railway manager visited the booking counters after the blasts on Monday and suspended the officials after checking the records.

"The chief booking officer was also suspended Tuesday till further orders," a railway official said. When contacted, D K Sabbarwal, the chief booking supervisor, confirmed to have received a one line order. "No charges have been mentioned. I have only received a one line order saying that I have been suspended," Sabbarwal told PTI.
