A five-member team of the Rajasthan police on Monday reached Cuttack amidst speculation that they might arrest Orissa Director General of Police B B Mohanty who has been accused of helping his son Biti, a rape case convict, jump parole.

"We have arrived in Cuttack this morning and we will proceed as per our programme", Virendra Jakhar, station house officer of the Lalkothi police station in Jaipur, who is part of the team, told PTI over phone.

He, however, did not elaborate on the team's plans.

Mohanty's lawyer Ashok Mohanty told PTI that two applications had been filed before the Rajasthan high court on behalf of the DGP, who is in charge of Fire Services and Home Guards, which were likely to come up for hearing on Tuesday.

While one application sought anticipatory bail from the court, the other was a prayer for quashing of charges levelled against him by the Rajasthan police in this matter.

"We are prepared to cooperate with the Rajasthan police team," Mohanty said.

This is the fifth visit of the Rajasthan police to the state in connection with the case.
