Thai authorities detained an Indian passenger onboard a Bangladeshi airline flight, which made an emergency landing in Bangkok, on Tuesday.

A Thai newspaper reported that an Indian national Hasan Ali, 40, had been detained.

The Indian Embassy in Bangkok was still awaiting information from Thai authorities about the incident.

The pilots of the flight, which was carrying approximately 60 passengers from Kuala Lumpur to Dhaka, requested permission for an emergency landing today morning while flying over Thailand.

According to initial reports, this was in response to an attempt at hijacking the aircraft.

However, subsequent reports said that the Indian passenger had threatened another with a knife during an altercation and was detained when the flight landed in Bangkok.
