In further trouble for Maharashtra Navnirman Sena chief Raj Thackeray [Images], a Maharashtra court on Wednesday issued a notice to him asking why the bail granted to him in a case related to his alleged statements against north Indians in February should not be cancelled.

The police on Tuesday moved an application before the magistrate's court in Vikhroli seeking the cancellation of Thackeray's bail in the case, a day after he was arrested from Ratnagiri in connection with the attack on north Indian candidates by MNS activists during a railway recruitment exam on Sunday.

"The Vikhroli court has issued a notice to Raj Thackeray asking why his bail should not be cancelled as he has allegedly flouted the condition laid down by the court while granting him bail," Sameer Nagare, a lawyer for Thackeray, said.

The court has sought a reply from the MNS leader by Thursday.

After being granted bail by a magistrate's court in Bandra on Tuesday, Raj was taken into custody by the Dombivali police in Thane in another case and spent the night in a police lock-up.
