Prime Minister Manmohan Singh [Images] offered prayers on Thursday at the famous Sachkhand Gurdwara in this pilgrim town where lakhs of Sikhs from all over the world have descended to take part in the tercentenary celebrations of Guru-ta-Gaddi.
    
Amid chants of Jo Bole So Nihal, Sat Sri Akal", Singh offered a golden-coloured sword, saffron jacket and a chadar at the gurudwara where the tenth Sikh Guru, Guru Gobind Singh, had given the Granth Sahib to Nanded, about 460 km east of Mumbai.
    
Besides Singh, Union Home Minister Shivraj Patil [Images], Tourism and Culture Minister Ambika Soni and Urban Development Minister S Jaipal Reddy also offered prayers at the gurudwara.
    
Maharashtra Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh and his Punjab counterpart Prakash Singh Badal were also present on the occasion.
    
Lakhs of devotees from across the country and abroad, including around 500 people from Pakistan, have come down to this pilgrim centre to pay obeisance at the gurudwara and take part in the week-long celebrations.

The Prime Minister is also attending a 'samagam' (convention) in the Gurudwara premises.
