26/11: Court to decide on postponing trial
March 23, 2009 13:54 IST
A special court in Mumbai [Images] is expected to take a decision on Monday on a prosecution plea for postponement of the trial of three accused in the Mumbai attacks, including Mohammed Ajmal Kasab [Images], to April 13.
Special judge M L Tahiliyani is likely to take a decision on the application filed by the prosecution seeking the trial be postponed since the high security court in Arthur Road jail is not yet ready.
Kasab, the lone terrorist arrested in connection with the attacks in the city, is likely to appear before the court through video conferencing from the Arthur Road jail in central Mumbai.
The judicial custody of Kasab, currently lodged in a high security cell in Arthur Road jail, ends today. Kasab has not been produced in open court since his arrest citing security reasons.
Two alleged Lashkar-e-Tayiba [Images] operatives, Sabauddin Ahmed and Faheem Ansari, will also face trial for their alleged involvement in aiding the terrorists who participated in the November 26 attacks in which 183 people were killed.
