BCCI may extend Wright's contract

India coach John Wright's contract may be extended till April 20, according to Board of Control for Cricket in India sources in Kolkata.
An ad-hoc extension of contracts may also be offered to team physio Andrew Leipus and physical trainer Adrian Le Roux, the sources told rediff.com.
BCCI president Jagmohan Dalmiya has said he is personally not averse to the idea of granting an ad-hoc extension to the three key members of Team India's support system.
However, a meeting of the board will formally decide on the matter. The decision could come on April 1.
The BCCI wants to offer the ad-hoc extension to cover the tri-nation tournament, beginning in Dhaka on April 11. The issue of retaining Wright, Leipus and Le Roux on a long-term basis could be discussed thereafter.
The extensions are being considered because the BCCI wants to avoid making any short-term appointment for just the Dhaka tourney, which involves South Africa and hosts Bangladesh. India's engagements thereafter come only in mid-August.
However, the biggest problem is Wright's availability. His contract with the BCCI ended with the World Cup and he has returned to New Zealand. He might not be able to return to India before the start of the tournament because he wants to be with his ailing father.
