The controversy over Sachin Tendulkar's bright red Ferrari 360 Modena refuses to die down.

On August 13, the Delhi high court issued a notice to the cricket superstar on a public interest petition challenging the exemption he sought, and got, from the 120 per cent import duty on the car, presented to him by Formula 1 racing ace Michael Schumacher last year for equalling Don Bradman's mark of 29 Test hundreds.

The duty waiver amounts to Rs 1.13 crore. The  government says this is a small gesture of appreciation for a sporting legend who has brought joy to millions of people.

What do you think? Was Tendulkar right in asking for an exemption? Should the government have acceded to his request?
