Bhupathi-Sania win mixed doubles gold

Mahesh Bhupathi and Sania Mirza won the mixed doubles tennis gold medal at the Afro-Asian Games at Hyderabad on Friday.

The pair beat compatriots Vishal Uppal and Rushmi Chakravarty 7-6(7/1), 6-3 in the final.

The triumph gave Mirza her fourth gold medal at the Games.

Earlier on Friday, she and Rushmi Chakravarthy grabbed won the women's doubles gold, beating the Indonesian duo of Stefanie Rosa Maya and Septi Mende 7-6(6-2), 6-3 in the final.

Mirza had won the women's singles gold on Thursday after beating Chakravarthy in the final. She also won the gold in the women's team event along with Chakravarthy.

Vijay Kannan lifted the men's singles tennis title beating Johnny Arcilla of The Philippines 6-1, 6-1.
